What to Expect: Your First Boudoir Session!

Image
Boudoir is a type of photography that is shrouded in mystery. You don't really hear of people participating in it but you see photos everywhere. It’s a very personal experience and some people become a bit nervous to share it with someone they don't know well. With the world becoming more and more body positive boudoir is becoming increasingly popular. It’s time to shed some light on how to prepare for your boudoir session, and what to expect. Being a woman I do have an advantage to male photographers. Women tend to be comfortable around women. It’s like a sisterhood, if you see someone who feels down about themselves, like they just aren't feeling it, what do we say? “Your fucking beautiful, and don't you dare say otherwise!” (I just want to say that though I refer to boudoir in the since of a woman, anyone can be the subject of boudoir. It’s not just for ladies to feel sexy even though that is the usual demographic. If I have enough interest I...

10 Ideas for Non-Traditional Weddings

Image
Every girl is taught that her wedding is one of the biggest moments in her life. A long, flowy, white dress, a huge turn out, usually in a chapel of some sort. Most have been planning for this moment their entire lives, however, some have a different vision for their wedding. Jitters?

Everyone’s felt it at one time or another. That feeling you get when you made plans with someone and now the day’s come and you just aren’t feeling it. Not because something's come up or your sick or anything like that, you just don’t want to turn off netflix, put on pants and go. It could be a night out with the girls, exercising, a date, literally anything, and you just don’t want to. Guess what, we’ve all felt that way and you better just get your butt up and go do it. Here’s what you need to think in this moment, What am I going to be doing if I don't go? Answer: Nothing (Netflix and sleeping don’t count) I recently had a session where, at the very end she said, "You know I wasn't really feeling it, I had a rough day at work and I just wished I hadn't made plans at all. I got really into it though, it was a lot of fun." Moments like this just remind me why I love doing what I do. Having the power to change someone's mind...

Why Hire a Professional Photographer?

Image
There are many myths out there that photographers are becoming obsolete. We carry a camera every day in our purses or pockets and think nothing of it. Our whole world is run by social media, pictures and videos are at our fingertips 24/7. We’re constantly taking selfies to commemorate everything from the food we eat to the events we’re attending. In a world saturated in media content from anyone and everyone, why would we need a professional photographer?       Knowledge. Knowledge is what separates a professional from an amateur. Knowledge of light, exposure, composition, ect. This is why it’s well worth hiring a professional, and not just a professional but the correct professional.       There are a vast number of niches in photography and in each niche there are different skills a photographer must acquire to get the most out of their session. For instance, a food photographer must either have a food stylist or they...
