Old, New, Borrowed, Blue
We've all heard the rhyme, "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue." But did you know there's one more part to it that I know I didn't know, and I'm sure many newer coupled don't know. The full rhyme is: "Something old, and something new, something borrowed, something blue ... And a sixpence for your shoe." Very few seem to know about this last part. There's a tradition that says if a bride wears a sixpence in her left shoe during her wedding, the marriage will be blessed with wealth. As for the more known portion of the rhyme I'll let you in on a quick history lesson of where it comes from. "Something old," This symbolizes the brides past and her family.
